How to verify your CPC and ICD 10 credentials


Many of us are certified by AAPC certifications. However, very few of us will know how to verify or checkout our AAPC credentials in AAPC website. It is important these days to check your AAPC credentials especially for ICD 10. As we know this is the last month to appear and clear ICD 10 Proficiency Assessment test, to retain your AAPC credentials. Many of us will be already certified. Yes, you heard it correct, you might be confused how you have cleared ICD 10 Proficiency Assessment test without appearing. These days all companies want their coder to be ICD 10 certified, so they will provide training session provided by AAPC and some assessment. After going through this training session and the Assessment, the companies internally will contact AAPC people and tell them you have cleared all the training and assessment test and you should now be promoted into ICD 10 Certified coder. Now, the question is how to know whether you are ICD 10 Certified or not. Let us check this in detail.

How to verify CPC and ICD 10 Credentials

Access AAPC website for ICD 10 Credentials

To know your ICD 10 credentials, just login to you AAPC website. After logging in, you have a separate tab on top for Certifications. In Certifications, we have at the bottom an option named as “VERIFY CREDENTIALS”. You can see in the below screenshot.

Once you click Verify Credentials, you will reach to a page where you will have four boxes to enter your name and AAPC ID details. You can also enter your email and your last name to check your credentials. Once you enter the details just click “Validate“. Check out the below screenshot for this step.

Once you entered you AAPC  or Member ID 12345678 and your last name OR email ID and last name, you will see all the credentials, which you are certified with AAPC.

Now, in the above image, you can see if you are ICD 10 certified or cleared ICD 10 Proficiency Assessment test, it will show as seen in this image. So, do check it as soon as possible, since this is the last month to appear and clear ICD 10 Proficiency Assessment test. Do remember, it is mandatory to clear this test, to retain your AAPC credentials.
